There are a large bunch of hurdles to astrophotography, whether you’re dealing with the grain that comes from shooting at high ISOs in order to pick up the faint light as demonstrated here to show the galaxy, or in fighting with star movement — something that is clearly very evident even at a 30 second exposure.

They both can be overcome with fancy tri-pod heads that rotate automatically, letting you drop your ISO down while keeping the same field of view, but I have no such thing.

In which case you get this.  Fuzzy, blurry, and beautiful nonetheless.  Who knew Lind had so much light emanating from it?

Diablo Lake as seen from the viewpoint along SR20.  The highway stretches from west of western Washington, easterly, and the section that crosses the Cascade mountain range is called the North Cascades Scenic Byway.

A barge makes its way along the Columbia River, navigating through local fishing enthusiasts.  There is even a song about them!

Out of my window, looking in the night
I can see the barges‘ flickering light
Silently flows the river to the sea
And the barges too go silently

I would like to sail the ocean blue
Barges, have you treasures in your hold
Do you fight with pirates, brave and bold.

Cable bridge over the Columbia River carries traffic from Pasco to Kennewick and back.

Pasco and Kennewick combine with Richland to form the Tri-Cities.

Adventuring around downtown Spokane yields some fun surprises — as seen here. Random bridal party! In Riverfront Park, of all places. This picture was just snapped while walking by as they entered the park, which explains the surprised look on her face.
