Is that Official?

Another from the Kodak P&S. This was taken in the fall a couple of years ago, and I only have this up instead of a more current one because…the sign seems to have gone missing. I drove through Lamont on my way to Steptoe a few weekends ago in search of this sign, and while the town was having some sort of celebration replete with parade and picnic in the park — the sign was AWOL.

I wonder if they’re just waiting for the official count from the census before they put it back up? — Lamont, WA.

Pancake Clouds

We had an unexpected, welcomed, and spectacular storm roll through this evening. Lasted approximately three hours, with the finest display of non-stop lightning I think I’ve ever seen. One small fire started up, but rain was quick to drench it out. Alas, I didn’t make it to the scene before the drops — Ritzville, WA.

I have NO idea what those pancake-looking clouds are called. And quite frankly, they kind of scare me! I couldn’t see them while I was standing in the dark!

These elevators are barely an entire (rural) block away! We have had thick creepy movie-like fog on and off recently. Still doesn’t beat the duststorm when I couldn’t see across the street. Ritzville, WA.
